Instagram and Facebook AI labels: what is in your image's metadata
Before you post a picture, you can look at what is written inside it. CtrAltRemove lists the Content Credentials, EXIF, XMP and IPTC data in your file, in plain terms, without uploading it.
Nothing leaves this page. No upload, no account, no tracking.
What the platforms say
Meta says it reads C2PA and IPTC markers and puts invisible watermarks on images made with its own AI (Meta on AI labels). YouTube says content with C2PA metadata cannot have its AI label turned off, and that creators who keep skipping disclosure can face removal or lose Partner Programme access (YouTube AI disclosure).
Why removing metadata may not remove the label
Platforms do not rely on one signal. A cleaned file can still carry an invisible watermark in the pixels, and platforms may ask you to disclose realistic AI content whatever the file says.
Use it to see, not to hide
The useful job here is knowing what your file says about itself, and removing details you do not want to share, like GPS location. If your content is realistic and made with AI, saying so is usually the safer move.
How to use it
- Drop the image on the Image labels tab.
- Read the plain-terms summary and the list of what was found.
- Download the clean copy if you want one.
Common questions
What metadata can trigger an Instagram AI label?
Meta says it reads C2PA and IPTC markers. See Meta's own post linked on this page for the current detail.
If I remove the metadata, will the label go away?
Not necessarily. Platforms use more than one signal, including invisible watermarks, and may ask you to disclose AI content.
Does the tool remove my GPS location?
Yes. GPS is stored in EXIF, which the cleaner removes from JPG, PNG and WebP.
Is my photo uploaded?
No. It is read and cleaned in your browser.
