Where hidden characters come from
Often they come from the page or editor you copied from, not from the AI itself. Word processors, web pages and chat windows all add their own spacing and formatting characters. The scan does not guess the source. It shows what is there.
What the scan checks
Zero-width characters, look-alike spaces, soft hyphens, bidirectional control characters, Unicode tag characters (which can hide a text message), and zero-width characters used as binary code. If a hidden message is found, the tool decodes and shows it.
Cleaning versus rewriting
Removing hidden characters does not change the wording. A different thing, the writing patterns that read as machine-made, is covered by the Writing tab, which lists each flagged phrase so you can replace it in your own words.
What this cannot prove
Finding nothing does not prove a text was written by a person, and finding something does not prove it came from an AI. The tool reports characters and patterns. It does not give an AI score.

Does ChatGPT put hidden characters in its text?
This tool cannot tell you where a character came from, only that it is there. Hidden characters often come from the page or editor you copied from.
Can this tell me if text was written by AI?
No. It reports hidden characters and common writing patterns. It does not give an AI percentage.
Will it change my wording?
No. Removing hidden characters leaves your words alone. The Writing tab lists patterns for you to rewrite yourself.
