Remove C2PA Content Credentials and AI metadata from images
Many images carry labels written into the file: Content Credentials (C2PA), EXIF, XMP and IPTC. CtrAltRemove shows what is in your picture, then writes a clean copy without them. Your file never leaves your device.
Nothing leaves this page. No upload, no account, no tracking.
What C2PA is
C2PA is an open standard for attaching a signed record, called Content Credentials, to a file. The record can say which tool made or edited it. It is stored in the file as extra data. See the C2PA specification.
What gets removed
For JPG, PNG and WebP, the tool removes the C2PA segment, EXIF (camera, date, GPS), XMP (editing history, descriptions) and IPTC (caption and credit fields). It then re-reads the cleaned file to confirm those blocks are gone, and shows you the result in plain terms.
What it cannot remove
Some AI images carry an invisible watermark in the pixels themselves, such as SynthID. Removing the file metadata does not touch it. This tool does not try to defeat pixel watermarks. You can check an image first with Content Credentials Verify or Google's SynthID Detector.
AVIF and HEIC
AVIF and HEIC files are scanned and reported, but not rewritten yet. Export the picture as JPG or PNG from your photo app, then drop that copy in.
Common questions
Does removing C2PA make an image look different?
No. The pixels are not touched. Only the extra data blocks are removed.
Does it remove SynthID or other pixel watermarks?
No. Those are inside the pixels, not in the file metadata. This tool does not try to remove them.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The file is read and rewritten in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
Which formats can it clean?
JPG, PNG and WebP are cleaned. AVIF and HEIC are scanned only.
